Job uncertainty, no access to welfare, and concerns over Covid are some of the drivers behind the flood of New Zealanders abroad coming back to Aotearoa. It’s estimated around one million Kiwis live abroad, but since New Zealand entered the alert level 4, just over 23, have returned. For some, the reason to come back was driven by the country’s success at eliminating the virus, and largely resuming life without social distancing.

Topping the list was Brazil, with its people who “are emotional, passionate and love to love, making it a great place for a short-term fling or a long-term relationship”.
According to the report, Kiwis were rated as great lovers because as a country we are “easy-going with a hard work ethic The report went on to say that, “because they don’t take themselves too seriously, people from New Zealand aren’t afraid to have a fun time, whether it’s a wild night of lovemaking or heading down to the local bar for a few drinks.

New Zealand rated fifth best country in the world for dating
The iconic dating show has just been rebooted last month after 14 years off air, according to The Sun. The host Paul O’Grady, did match-making with same-sex contestants on Saturday’s show which happened to coincide with the London Pride festival this weekend. Contestant Alice was seen quizzing three girls before choosing who she would like to invite on a date with her.
The singleton doesn’t hold back as she asks women, Steph, Sarah and Jane what their sexiest chat-up line is and about their guilty pleasures. It is the first of a few episodes that will feature lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender contestants and the move was named as a “huge and glorious step forward” by viewers on social media.

By contrast, she has found that many Kiwi men aged 25 and under “seem misguided” and have little desire to make “anything of themselves. The dichotomy between these two generations is definitely noticeable, almost polorising. A caller named Rebecca told the station she and her friends had decided to “sleep their way around the world” during the Rugby World Cup held in New Zealand.
Their findings: That Kiwi guys are “rubbish” in the sack compared to men from other countries, particularly the UK. Kimberly Bell, an American now living in Christchurch, said she has found Kiwi men to be less sexist than American men in terms of domestic duties. That doesn’t seem to be a thing here, either consciously or subconsciously. There can be quite an ingrained sexist attitude about women’s position in the world.
It feels like relationships [in New Zealand] are more reciprocal in terms of efforts. She has found that New Zealand men are less likely to want to “take charge” in a relationship than American men, something she feels stems from “feeling less of a need to be in charge”. There’s definitely a MacGyver quality to the men here as a whole in my opinion. Not all find this disinclination to take charge attractive, however.

Not so online: having lost its stigma, most Kiwis now agree online dating is a great way to meet a future partner — just as long as you look in the right place. Long gone are the days where cheap thrills and short flings were enough to keep you happy and — as a professional, a parent, or simply an all-round responsible adult — your relationship goals have become more serious. Meeting and falling in love with a supportive, mature partner is a worthy priority in your life; the only problem is how to meet promising men and interesting women in their 40s who also happen to be single.
After all, if you want to start a new relationship it makes sense to go where the singles are and — for an ever-increasing number of New Zealanders — that place is online.

Photo: Getty Images Potentially thousands of UK-based Kiwis are in a race to get back to New Zealand, with their visas set to expire in the coming days. The UK’s Home Office granted all overseas nationals an extension to their visas until 31 July – but with that date just a week away, New Zealanders in the UK still have no idea whether it is going to be extended again.
The extension was initially granted so that those who found themselves in the country when Covid started impacting flights and border closures were able to remain there. However, instructions were that those who benefited from the visa extension “are expected to take all reasonable steps to leave the UK before this date where it is possible to do so”.
